Meet NYVAS Patient Pete

Meet NYVAS patient Pete, the most handsome and sweet Great Dane. Pete was diagnosed with Wobbler Syndrome, a condition causing pressure on the spinal cord in the neck, which leads to pain and difficulty walking. This condition is sadly often fatal, and Pete is only just over a year old. Pete has been treated with a combination of acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutritional supplements and steroids to reduce the inflammation and pain in his neck.

Before acupuncture, Pete had an uncoordinated walk and significant pain, despite steroid treatment. Often, he had a hard time making it upstairs to sleep at night and would often fall. Since starting acupuncture, his gait is much improved, he doesn't fall, has no apparent pain and happily goes up and down stairs. Pete's steroid dose has now been reduced by 50%, yet his condition has significantly improved. This treatment has greatly improved Pete's quality of life and should allow him to live longer despite his diagnosis.

Pete's owner described the results as "amazing". We are so happy to be able to help Pete!
